westward expansion poster
on mountain men
8.8.2 Describe the purpose, challenges, and economic incentives associated with westward expansion, including the concept of Manifest Destiny (e.g., the Lewis and Clark expedition, accounts of the removal of Indians, the Cherokees' "Trail of Tears," settlement of the Great Plains) and the territorial acquisitions that spanned numerous decades.
1. This poster relates to this standard since we( my group and I) had to describe everything about the Mountain Men. For example, we had to talk about how the men lived and what they did. They lived in a happy and social way and they trapped beaver. They faced many challenges which included bears, Indians, wolves, and taking wrong steps when getting through fast water currents from rivers.
They traveled through area which were now called the Oregon and California Trails.
2. Here are the following steps:
a. My group and I got assigned Mountain Men.
b. We read the text and assigned each one of us a topic about Mountain Men.
c. We got to work( which was putting pictures and descriptions) and pasted it on our poster.
d. We then presented our poster.
3. This demonstrates that I'm able to understand my role for the project and be able to do pictures for it. When presenting, I was able to present the information by heart. Also, when I was looking for the information for my role, I got the key and important information that is good enough to give out when presenting. When we were working on the Mountain Men section, I was able to understand everything in that section.
4. I could have improved during the time when I was presenting with my group. We could have figured out who is presenting and saying what instead of getting confused and wondering who is going. Improving in this will help me to be more organized with what I need to do. Also, this will teach me to plan ahead and know who will present and do what when I have future presentations.
5. I can apply this to the real world by actually visiting the Oregon and California trails. When driving or walking through them, I can actually remember that these men walked them and carried on their lives there. Another thing I can apply is when I present in other presentations. Since I have learned my lesson about getting organized, I can apply this being able to present better and in the right way.
