In Rise Kohyang Middle School, the 8th graders are given the chance to volunteer in places and to help them. They also get a chance to learn from their experience. I have volunteered in both the Islamic Center and my old elementary school, Charles H. Kim. For the Islamic Center, I helped out with the food pantry. At Charles H. Kim, I had to help out with many things that the school needed help with.
Now, first, I am going to be talking about my experience at the food pantry in the Islamic Center. I picked this place because my mom thought of that idea, and later I agreed with it and realized that it would help people in need. In this place, I had to help set up the food for the poor and help give out the food to them. When I give out the food to a poor person/family, it feels good since I am helping someone who needs help. I never helped the poor before and this experience allowed me to actually bring food into someone's hands. They will not have to suffer. I helped benefit the community by, as I said before, giving food to people who need it so they won't go through hunger.
For my volunteering at Charles H. Kim Elementary School, I have done many things for the school, such as cleaning up the campus, tutoring, stapling homework, and watching kids. I picked this place because it would be helpful to my elementary school. This effected my experience because it allowed me to get a chance to help elementary school students with homework and assignments they don't know how to do, and this made me feel good and helpful to the students. Also, cleaning up the campus effected my experience since I am making the school clean. I help by picking up trash to make the school a good environment. All of this benefited the community( or you can say the school) because I have done my job in helping the school when it needed the help. I allowed support within tutoring because I help kids in school. I also benefited by cleaning the school so it would not be unhealthy and dirty.
