1. This assignment relates to the standards, 3a. and 3b., because they both have to do with the whole idea of an atom. We had to know what element we have and how many of what electrons, protons, and neutrons there are for the atom. We also had to know where their place is at in the atom. For example, the protons and neutrons belonged in the nucleus and in my model, I put the protons and neutrons in the nucleus for hydrogen. Then, I put the electrons in the outer part of my atomic model since that's where electrons belong. All of this provides us a visual look of an atom. This relates to the standard 3a. Now, for standard 3b, it tells us about an atom making new things. My atom, which is hydrogen, can connect to this standard because hydrogen can make new materials like water(H2O).
2. One SEP that I gained from this assignment was developing and using models. I have gained this because I understood the structure of an atom as well as putting everything together( the nucleus, shape of the atom, neutrons, protons, and electrons).
3. One SEP I could have done better on was constructing explanations & designing solutions in terms of teamwork. My partner and I had certain differences in terms of how to make the model and we could have solved the problem by finding what we want and how are ideas can combine to satisfy us both. This can help me in the future by knowing how to solve differences when I don't agree with my partner in work.
4. I can apply this assignment to the real world by making models to represent something. For instance, if I have to make a model for something in work like a chemical or medicine with inner physical details( my dream job is to work with medicine). This can help others to understand what the medicine looks like and what the chemicals look like. This is similar to the atomic model assignment since it shows others how the atom looks like.
